Bhubaneswar: Spanish ambassador to India, Juan Antonio March Pujol, met chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday to discuss potential collaboration in renewable energy, metallurgy, textiles, and automobile sectors.
During the high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, Majhi showcased Odisha's position as one of India's fastest-growing states and its emergence as a preferred investment destination. Ambassador Pujol expressed Spain's interest in establishing long-term technology partnerships with the state, a govt statement read.
The discussions highlighted the recent Rs 90 crore investment by TIMAB Magnesium India Pvt Ltd, a French-Spanish venture, which is establishing a refractory manufacturing unit in Khurda. The project is expected to create over 300 jobs.
The state's new Renewable Energy Policy took centre stage as CM Majhi invited Spanish energy giants Siemens Gamesa, Acciona, and Iberdrola to invest in solar parks, offshore wind, and green hydrogen projects.
State govt emphasised its commitment to green transition and sought Spanish expertise in floating solar and energy storage technologies.
In the textile sector, the CM extended invitations to prominent Spanish fashion brands to establish sourcing hubs within Odisha's integrated textile parks, highlighting the state's skilled workforce and industry-friendly policies.
Both parties expressed commitment to strengthening industrial, technological, and cultural ties between Spain and Odisha, marking a significant step towards bilateral cooperation, the statement added.
