NEW DELHI: Congress MP and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor , who is currently leading an all-party parliamentary delegation to countries in the Americas, on Monday expressed concern over the recent terror attack in Colorado's Boulder.
The incident, in which six elderly individuals were injured after being set on fire during a peaceful pro-Israel rally , has drawn widespread condemnation.
Tharoor said the Indian delegation was relieved that there was no loss of life and echoed the sentiments of US secretary of state Marco Rubio , stating that “terror has no place” in any country.
"Members of the Indian MPs’ delegation learned with concern about the terror attack in Boulder, Colorado today. We are relieved there was no loss of life. We all share Secy of State Marco Rubio ’s view that “terror has no place” in our countries," Thiruvananthapuram MP said in his X post.
The delegation, currently in Brazil, is on a mission aimed at global outreach under Operation Sindoor .
It was formed in the wake of the Operation Sindoor, a strong retaliatory action after Pahalgam terror attack , with the goal of exposing Pakistan’s longstanding support for terrorism and building international consensus against such acts.
The group will travel to the United States next, as part of this initiative. Upon arrival in Brasília, the delegation was received by Sandeep Kumar Kujur, Charge d’Affaires at the Indian Embassy in Brazil.
The Boulder attack took place near an event organised by “Run for Their Lives,” a grassroots campaign advocating for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) has charged 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman in connection with the incident. According to authorities, Soliman shouted “Free Palestine” and threw incendiary devices into the crowd, injuring six people aged between 67 and 88 years.
He was arrested at the scene and is currently being treated in hospital.
