Britain is set to be battered by fierce autumn weather as powerful Atlantic winds and heavy rain sweep across the country at the end of October. Weather maps from WXCharts show that by Friday, October 31, the UK will be gripped by gusts of up to 71mph and widespread downpours, with forecasters warning of potential disruption through the Halloween weekend.

According to the data, the strongest winds are expected to strike western and northern regions, including parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and coastal England, where gusts could exceed 71mph. The maps show large swathes of the UK glowing in deep orange and red shades, a clear sign of the incoming storm's intensity.

Cities such as Inverness, Belfast, and Manchester are forecast to be among the worst affected, while areas further south, including Birmingham, Cardiff, and London, are also likely to experience heavy rain and blustery conditions.

A rain-wall of approximately 500-miles will pour over the country.

The storm marks a dramatic shift in weather patterns as a cold, northerly flow at the start of the period gives way to a more unsettled westerly system moving in from the Atlantic.

The Met Office long-range forecast indicates that between October 25 and November 3, conditions will fluctuate between cold and wet, with frequent showers around coastal areas and even some wintry flurries over higher ground in Scotland.

As the Atlantic front develops, the UK is expected to see bands of rain pushing in from the west, bringing periods of strong winds and occasional thunder.

Forecasters say the wettest weather will hit the north and west, though most parts of the country will see rain at some point.

Temperatures will remain close to or slightly below the seasonal average.

The unsettled spell is likely to continue into early November, as successive Atlantic systems move across Britain.
