Prince Harry had made a surprising comment on whether or not he intends to become a US citizen. The Duke of Sussex, 41, has lived in America for the last five years after moving to the country from Britain in 2020.
The move, which saw him and his American wife Meghan Markle buy a sprawling estate in Montecito, came after Harry decided to step back from royal duties. While the prince has always continued to express his fondness and love for his home country, he has also been open about how "grateful" he is for his life in America.
This has led some to wonder whether or not he will apply to become an American citizen.
The prince has now seemed to confirm whether or not this is on the cards during a surprise appearance on the Hasan Minhaj Doesn't Know podcast.
When asked by host Hasan Minhaj whether he was going to become a US citizen, Harry gave a surprising six-word verdict as he said: "There are no plans to be."
Responding to the question in full, Harry said: "Am I going to become a US citizen? There are no plans to be, at this point."
This comes after the prince had previously said he would consider becoming a US citizen.
Speaking last year to Good Morning America's Will Reeve during the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025's One Year to Go celebration in Canada, the duke said life in America was "amazing".
He also said: "I'm here standing next to this with these guys (Invictus competitors) and the American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind but certainly not something that is a high priority for me right now."
It is believed the prince intends to continue living in America rather than relocate back to Britain fulltime at any point.
This is despite the fact he has said multiple times that he "loves" his home country.
