Hundreds of people queued outside UNIQLO's latest much-anticipated UK store as it opened its doors for the first time. Eager shoppers began queuing from 6am on Thursday outside the new outlet in Liverpool, as per the .
The Japanese clothing brand has been steadily expanding its footprint in the UK, where it has recently opened several new stores, with more planned in the coming months. The store in Liverpool One is the city's first and has a sales space of approximately 1,430 sq meters across two floors. Alessandro Dudech, CEO of UNIQLO UK, told the : "Liverpool is such a special city - so culturally rich, so globally connected.

"It's really a place that is so proud of its roots and this spirit resonated with us in UNIQLO.
"It's not just a market but a community that truly embraces individuality and self expression. We wanted to bring a store reflective of that.
"This is not just a new opening, but hopefully the start of a long and successful relationship. We have designed the store to be a community hotspot where people get the chance to come together and experience life through UNIQLO clothing."
One excited customer told the : "I'm from London where UNIQLO has been for a long long time.
"I'm just so glad I no longer have to travel back as it is now in our wonderful city."
UNIQLO is planning to open more outlets in the UK.
The popular brand is set to open its second store in Scotland on Argyle Street in Glasgow city centre.
A three-floor store is also planned for Birmingham's Bullring.
Both are set to open this autumn.
UNIQLO was originally founded in Yamaguchi, Japan, in 1949 as a textiles manufacturer and now has more than 1,000 stores across the world.
