Oasis guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs has announced that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer as he shared a devastating health update. Taking to Instagram on Friday (October 3), the 60-year-old musician shared a lengthy statement online, revealing that he is taking a "planned break" from the Oasis' Live '25 reunion tour for his cancer treatment.
He wrote: "Early this year, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The good news is I'm responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour. Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I'll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney.
"I'm really sad to be missing these shows, but I'm feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America. Have an amazing time if you're going this month, and I'll see you back onstage with the band in November."
It didn't take long before his loyal fanbase passed on their well-wishes online, with one posting: "Bonehead mate. We love you to bits. You've been a cornerstone of this reunion.
"It would never ever have been the same without you. I'm sending you massive love, mate. We will miss that wall of sound, but your health comes first. Take care, man, and see you soon [two blue heart emojis]."
Another gushed: "You've got this Paul. Get better and heal, you'll be back to finish the tour. Stronger than ever [heart emoji" as a third echoed: "All the best buddy! Your contribution to the tour so far has been sellar."
A fourth added: "I love you, Bonehead! Take it easy and focus on getting better. Wishing you all the best! [heart emoji]" as a fifth penned: "I'm glad you're prioritising your health. Please take care of yourself, and I look forward to seeing you again next year!!! [two heart emojis]."
Arthurs has been commended for his role in the highly anticipated reunion, which is currently set to embark on the Australian leg of its global tour. Paying tribute to Bonehead on stage earlier this summer, Noel said that he was responsible for getting the band back together and putting the Gallagher brothers' 16-year feud to bed.
He told the crowd in Cardiff: "If it wasn't for him, none of this would have happened." The infamous musician was given the all-clear from tonsil cancer back in 2022, and revealed in September of that same year: "I had a full scan 10 days ago and it's all clear, it's gone... Into recovery now and see you all soon."
Earlier this year, Bonehead left Oasis fans in stitches as he replied to a fan on X - formerly known as Twitter. While he was enjoying the first leg of the Oasis tour, he posted: "It's getting better man", when he received a reply from one fan who wrote: "Same setlist as every other night".
It was at this point that Bonehead came back with just one word which delighted other fans, writing: "And????" It didn't take long before his fanbase rallied around him, with one fan posting: "Setlist is almost perfect. Why change it". Another replied: "Agreed! Only thing that would make it better is Columbia".
