Kevin De Bruyne has aimed another parting shot at Manchester City executives and reminded them that he could still be a force next season.
The City skipper struck again on his farewell tour to move ’s side a giant step closer to qualification. But De Bruyne then reiterated his belief that he can still be a big player in the Premier League, raising the prospect of him joining a rival English club after not being offered a new deal by City.
“I showed I can still play here (in the Premier League) otherwise I don’t do what I have done in these last four or five weeks,” declared De Bruyne after his side-footed finish ten minutes before half-time gave City a narrow win over .
“Obviously I know I’ve got one game left here (at the Etihad) but I just try to do my job like I’ve always done and I did that today, so I am proud of what I am doing. I give everything and I want to win the game.”

And De Bruyne also confirmed his imminent departure has not gone down well with the squad, saying: “A lot of team-mates have spoken to me and I think they are also sad that I have to go but sometimes it goes like this.”
Guardiola refused to be drawn on where he thought De Bruyne’s future would lie, only saying: “We have another game here with him. Hopefully, there will be another goal. It lifted our spirits.”
The defeat brought Wolves six-game winning run to an end but the visiting fans still hung around to give Vitor Pereira and his players a rapturous ovation.
The Wolves manager said: “I am very proud of my team. I said that we can lose a game, but we can't lose our identity, our courage, our ambition, our commitment and our team spirit. Today we showed all of that.”
