Jack Tweed has opened up about the lasting impact of losing his wife Jade Goody, admitting that even 16 years on from her death, he is still unsure whether he will ever be ready to marry again.
The 38-year-old TV personality, who married Jade just a month before she tragically died from cervical cancer in 2009, has since built a new life with girlfriend Ellis Sargeant, 31.
The couple, who began dating in 2022, have grown close over the past three years and have even spoken about starting a family. But when it comes to marriage, Jack is still torn.

He told the Daily Mail : “I would like to have kids, but I just don’t know about marriage. Sometimes I do feel I want to but then other times I feel like I’m a bit guilty. I know it’s been a long time [since Jade’s death] but…”
Jack’s lingering sense of loyalty to Jade is something he says never truly goes away. Their emotional wedding took place in February 2009, just weeks before Jade lost her battle with cancer at the age of 27.
At the time, Jack was only 21 and suddenly thrust into the public eye as the widower of one of Britain’s most famous reality TV stars. Since then, he has taken tentative steps toward building a future with Ellis. The pair suffered heartbreak last year when Ellis experienced a miscarriage, which Jack says has been difficult to come to terms with.
“Unfortunately, she lost the baby and we haven’t spoken about having more children since then,” he explained. “It wasn’t nice, especially for her, and it’s just awkward [to discuss children] now.”
Despite the pain they both feel over losing a child, Jack describes his relationship with Ellis as strong. “We’re really good. We just get on,” he said. “I think we’ve only had one mini-argument in the space of three years... I think it’s because I’m so laid back,” he laughed.
Jack has also maintained a connection with Jade’s sons, Bobby and Freddy, from her previous relationship with Jeff Brazier. While his bond with the boys was strained in the immediate aftermath of Jade’s death, they are now on good terms.
Freddy, 20, is preparing to become a father himself, and Jack believes Jade would have been thrilled to hear the news. “When the news came out, I was thinking – Jade would be a grandma – would I be a step-granddad? I’d rather not have that title [so young],” he joked.
But he added that Freddy’s new role could help him mature, saying: “It makes you grow up. I was younger than Freddy is now when I met Jade!”
Jack admits he struggled after Jade’s passing, turning to alcohol and even serving time in prison. But in recent years he has taken a step back from the spotlight and successfully built a life as an electrician.
“I don’t really go out and have a drink that much anymore,” he said. “I very rarely drink because the hangovers last about five days now.”
