Emotional Sir David Jason has given a heartfelt tribute after the death of Only Fools star Patrick Murray - describing him as part of the “big family” and it being a “great loss”.
Patrick, who played 'wheeler dealer' Mickey Pearce, previously battled lung cancer and faced health issues in his later years.
A representative for Patrick confirmed he died in his sleep at 1.28am on Monday (September 29) surrounded by family and friends.

In a statement, Sir David Jason said: “I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Patrick after his difficult health battles. It is always a great loss to the Only Fools cast and crew as the show was, and still is, like a big family and another one of our friends has passed away. I would like to send my condolences to Patrick’s family and friends.”

Other tributes came in yesterday after Patrick’s death was announced.
A BBC spokesperson said: “We are very sad to hear of the passing of Patrick Murray, much loved for his role as Mickey in Only Fools and Horses, our thoughts are with his friends and family.”
Actor Patrick played the role of Mickey in 20 episodes of Only Fools and Horses during its 22-year run from 1983 to 2003 and like Del Boy was known for wheeling and dealing in black market goods.
He was best known for his outlandish claims about his success in both business and with women, and frequently took advantage of Rodney's inexperience in the trade.
