Sophie Willan has confirmed she is expecting her first child. The creator and star of the award-winning series Alma’s Not Normal, took to to reveal she is pregnant, marking the announcement with a photo of herself dining with partner Carniel Francis Levy.
In the image, the couple are seen smiling across a table set with a white tablecloth, menus, and surrounded by floral arrangements. Willan wore a red dress for the occasion, and while the photo itself made no reference to the news, the announcement followed in her caption and additional photos showing her baby scan.
Alongside the photo of the scan, Sophie wrote: "WE’RE HAVING A BABY BOY. Coming November 2025. Our lives are about to change forever, in the most chaotic, joyful, and magical way. And yes, we’re already arguing about baby names."

The post was quickly met with congratulatory messages from fans and fellow actors alike, celebrating the couple’s growing family. "OMG this is such cute news!!! You'll be the best mum ever. Congratulations."
Another echoed: "Gorgeous news. So happy for you. This little man is going to be the cutest baby ever." Someone else added: "Sophie!!!!!! Best news of 2025. So happy for you."
Sophie has lent her voice to ’s The Circle since its launch in 2018, becoming a familiar narrator for the popular reality series. Beyond her voiceover work, she has appeared on screen in various television programmes, including Still Open All Hours and the BBC holiday special Click & Collect.
Her comedy work spans both scripted and live performance, with appearances on The Tez O’Clock Show, Class Dismissed, and Live from The Comedy Store. Willan has also made a name for herself as a writer and creator. Her semi-autobiographical sitcom Alma’s Not Normal premiered in 2021, earning critical acclaim and multiple awards.
At the recent BAFTA Awards in London, Willan took home her second BAFTA for Alma’s Not Normal. Her acceptance speech drew attention after parts were edited for broadcast due to her enthusiastic and sweary remarks.
Taking to the stage, she joked: “I’m not allowed to swear and all I want to do is beep beep, bl**dy beep!” She attempted to censor herself, playfully describing her cast as “flupping brilliant” and “blimming fabulous”, though a few explicit words still slipped through.
Willan’s stage work has also seen major success. Her Branded comedy tour was a national sell-out, including a three-week run at London’s Soho Theatre. She was recognised as one of The Times’ Best Living Comedians in 2018 and previously won the Herald Angel Award in 2017.
The following year, she was awarded the prestigious BBC Bursary.
