Goa’s vibrant food scene has a flavourful new addition. Chaatery, which recently opened in Porvorim, is a restaurant dedicated entirely to celebrating chaat — one of India’s most loved street food traditions.
The brainchild of entrepreneur Adheesh Bhagat, Chaatery aims to offer a sit-down chaat experience that balances nostalgia with hygiene, and regional authenticity with seasonal creativity.
In a State, where chaat is often limited to street-side vendors and evening markets, Chaatery fills a noticeable gap — offering freshly prepared chaat in a clean, air-conditioned space, complete with a small outdoor sit-out to enjoy pippin' hot with pakora in the monsoon.
ON THE MENU
The menu brings together a curated selection of crowd favourites and lesser-known regional varieties from across the country. Think Paani Puri and Dahi Papdi Chaat alongside Lachha Tokri and the tangy Banarasi Tamatar Chaat.

All the elements — from the chutneys to the masalas — are made in-house using fresh, local ingredients.
There are also seasonal specials and occasional pop-ups planned, which will experiment with , such as kokum-infused chutneys and recheado-spiced potatoes, creating a new kind of chaat that feels both rooted and refreshed.
LIVELY AMBIENCE
The interiors of Chaatery reflect this same energy — a blend of and modern design. Visualised by artist Radhika Agarwala and executed in collaboration with Roy Studio and architect Ankit George, the space is colourful, approachable, and designed to be social.
A mix of retro and contemporary music completes the relaxed, high-spirited vibe.
For founder Adheesh Bhagat, who previously held leadership roles at ITC and the Good Glamm Group, Chaatery marks a personal and professional shift.
“After years of helping build other people’s dreams, it was time to chase my own,” he shares. Raised in Kolkata and having lived across multiple Indian and international cities, Adheesh brings a culturally-rich perspective to the — quite literally.
“Chaat was something that followed me through every stage of life — from parks and school gates to city corners and railway platforms. It’s comforting, expressive and endlessly regional. We just wanted to give it the structure and respect it hasn’t really had.”
Adheesh relocated to Goa to start something of his own — combining his love for food, culture and the outdoors. “This isn’t just a — it’s a small tribute to something deeply Indian, and deeply personal,” he adds.
Looking ahead, Chaatery hopes to grow within Goa and eventually across India. But for now, the focus is on getting every element just right — from the plating to the playlist.
“We want people to leave not just full, but happy,” says Adheesh. “Chaat has always brought people together — it’s time we gave it the setting it deserves.”
There are also seasonal specials and occasional pop-ups planned, which will experiment with Goan flavours, such as kokum-infused chutneys and recheado-spiced potatoes, creating a new kind of chaat that feels both rooted and refreshed.
