The University of Mumbai (MU) has announced the commencement of the pre-admission process for first-year undergraduate (FY-UG) programs for the academic year 2025–26. In a circular issued on Tuesday, the university outlined the detailed admission schedule, which must be strictly adhered to by all affiliated, autonomous, and non-autonomous colleges under the Arts, Science, and Commerce faculties, as well as university sub-campuses in Thane, Kalyan, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.
As per the notification, the admissions will be conducted in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Government Resolution dated April 20, 2023. All programs will follow the Multiple Entry and Multiple Exit (ME-ME) framework. The schedule has been devised keeping in view the announcement of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or Class XII results on Monday.
Admissions are open for a wide range of UG programs including three-year degrees, four-year honours and honours with research, and five-year integrated UG and PG courses. Among the courses listed are BA, BSc, BCom, BMS, BMM, BSW, and various specialized and vocational programs such as BCom in Financial Market, Accounting & Finance, Banking & Insurance, and Transport Management; BSc in Information Technology, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Hospitality Studies; Bachelor of Vocation (BVoc) in areas like Software Development, Interior Design, Tourism, Travel Management, Greenhouse Management, and Pharma Analytical Science; as well as integrated degrees such as BSc Bioanalytical Science and BA-MA in German Studies. Additionally, courses in Library Science, Culinary Arts, Music and Performing Arts have also been included.
The sale of admission forms, both online and offline, will take place from May 8 to 23 until 1.00 pm. During the same period, students must also complete their pre-admission online enrolment on the university portal. The online submission of admission forms, accompanied by the pre-enrolment forms, is mandatory. In-house and minority quota admissions must also be completed during this time frame.
Dr. Pooja Raundale, Director of the Examination and Evaluation Board, emphasised that all admissions and academic activities will follow the guidelines set by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of Maharashtra, and the university, in compliance with the NEP 2020 framework. "All affiliated and autonomous colleges should strictly adhere to the admission schedule as issued by the university and implement the admission process based on their sanctioned intake capacity, along with reservation norms and eligibility criteria," Dr. Raundale said.
The first merit list will be published on May 27 at 11.00 am. Verification of documents and online payment of fees for candidates listed in the first merit list must be completed between May 28 and 30 by 3.00 pm. The second merit list will be announced on May 31 at 7.00 pm, followed by document verification and fee payment from June 2 to 4.
The third merit list will be released on June 5 at 7.00 pm, with the final phase of document verification and fee payment scheduled from June 6 to 10. The academic session for first-year students will begin with an orientation on June 13.
Additionally, the admission schedule for the Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) under the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will be announced separately following the results of the entrance examination conducted by the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell.
The online application link will be made available on May 8 after 5.00 pm.
