Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced a financial assistance of Rs5 lakh to the family of Syed Adil Hussain Shah, a pony ride operator who is being hailed as a hero for sacrificing his life while protecting tourists during the Pahalgam terror attack.
The 20-year-old tried to shield a tourist travelling on his horse and even attempted to snatch a rifle from one of the terrorists. Tragically, he was shot and killed by the attackers.
Touched by Syed’s brave act, Shinde also decided to build a house for them. He spoke to the family on the phone and promised his support.
On Friday, a Shiv Sena representative visited Pahalgam and gave the cheque to Syed’s family. At the same time, the DyCM spoke to the family through video call to offer his support and condolences. Syed, who used to offer horse rides to tourists in Pahalgam, displayed extraordinary courage and humanity in the face of terror, sacrificing his life to protect others.
