Guwahati: "Finally, the hidden cat is out of the bag." With these words, Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia stated that MP Gaurav Gogoi has been* compelled to admit the allegations raised against him. Speaking to the press today, President Saikia asserted that the accusations brought against Gaurav Gogoi by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma were absolutely true — something now confirmed by Gogoi’s own partial admission.
Saikia noted that although Gogoi has admitted to only one-third of the allegations, two-thirds remain unanswered. He further questioned whether Gaurav Gogoi has the courage to disclose how long he stayed in Pakistan, what he did there, where he went, and with whom he interacted. Saikia urged Gogoi to reveal the complete truth to the people of Assam.
Saikia also reiterated that Congress’s sympathy for Pakistan is nothing new. There are countless instances of Congress leaders supporting Pakistan whenever they received opportunities or advantages — even if it meant going against India's stance and policy.
When allegations were initially raised against Gaurav Gogoi, Congress leaders had outright rejected them. No leader from the Congress dared to stand against the dynastic politics entrenched within the party.
To cover their embarrassment and anticipating the tremors expected on 10th September, Gogoi was forced to make this* admission today, Saikia remarked.
Significantly, the BJP state president asked whether Gogoi had gone to Pakistan for India's interests, on ISI’s invitation, or to inspect terror camps — questions that continue to confuse the people of Assam.
However, Saikia stated that these doubts will likely be cleared on 10th September. He reaffirmed that a Chief Minister always speaks based on truth. Still, Gogoi remained silent, and instead of responding directly, he and his party began attacking the Chief Minister and BJP .
But now, Saikia claimed, the truth has come out in Gaurav Gogoi's press conference in Delhi — the "cat is out of the bag." Congress has always lived under suspicion in the public eye. Before the SIT (Special Investigation Team) report is released on 10th September, Gaurav Gogoi might* have to hold 4 –5 more press conferences to explain where he went in Pakistan and what he did. Saikia also took a dig at certain left-liberal intellectuals and Congress supporters who tried to portray Gogoi as morally upright, though now the facts are crystal clear.
He further added that Congress’s affinity for Pakistan and Bangladesh is well known. In 1993 , through the introduction of the IMDT Act, Congress turned Assam into a haven for illegal foreigners. Their politics was based on appeasement, leading to the increasing dominance of people of East Bengal origin in the state. This was all made possible by the actions of previous Congress leadership, including predecessors of Gaurav Gogoi.
However, Saikia declared that today the situation is under control, and Congress will forever remain answerable to the people of Assam for its anti-Assam actions . Although Gaurav Gogoi is an indigenous son of the soil, Saikia said Congress has always acted against the interests of indigenous people, dragging the state into crises — a sin that the party will have to atone for over the next 20–25 years* .
