Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): The police will present all seven rapists before the court on Tuesday, official sources said on Monday.
According to reports, they violated four tribal girls on the Duglai-Bharatpur Marg under Hatta police station on the night of April 23.
Three of the four girls were minors. The incident took place when the girls were returning home with their uncle after attending a wedding ceremony.
The police took all the culprits on remand. In charge of the Hatta police station, Avinash Rathore said the youths also attended the wedding ceremony where the girls had gone.
They saw the girls dancing at the marriage party. When they were returning home, the youths also followed them on bikes.
As soon as the girls reached a forested area, the bikers shooed away their uncle. Then all of them raped the four sisters. One of the girls was nine years old.
The accused told the girls not to complain to the police about the incident. The office-bearers of the tribal people’s association got a tip-off about the incident on April 25.
The association members then spoke to the girls' parents and took them to the police station. Lokesh Matre, Lalchand Khare, Ajendra Bahe, Ajjuu, Rajendra Kawre, Maniram Bahe and Inglesh Matre, who violated the girls, are the residents of the same village.
It initially came to light that Inglesh was a minor. But the police found him to be an adult after examining the records. The family of the accused met the parents of the girls and tried to get the issue settled.
Legislator Anubha Munjare also met the girls' family and advised them against being scared of anyone. She assured them of all help from the administration.
