MediaTek has introduced its latest mobile platform, the Dimensity 9500, designed to enhance performance, power efficiency, and on-device AI in upcoming 5G smartphones. The Dimensity 9500 uses a third-generation All Big Core CPU design, which combines a 4.21GHz ultra core, three premium cores, and four performance cores, along with four-lane UFS 4.1 storage.
According to MediaTek, this setup offers up to 32% higher single-core and 17% higher multi-core performance compared with the previous generation, while the ultra core reduces peak power consumption by up to 55%, potentially extending battery life. The platform is also reported to be around 30% more efficient during multitasking in games and social audio applications.
The platform introduces a new cache and memory architecture, including support for 4-channel UFS4.1, which is claimed to double read/write speeds and speed up loading of large AI models by 40%. The second-generation Dimensity Scheduling Engine is designed to maintain smoother responsiveness and efficiency under heavy workloads.
Graphics performance is powered by the Arm G1-Ultra GPU, which provides higher peak performance and improved energy efficiency, supporting frame rate interpolation up to 120FPS and features like ray tracing. MediaTek notes that collaboration with game studios and support for Unreal Engine’s MegaLights and Nanite technology enable advanced real-time rendering and lighting effects.
On the AI side, the platform includes the ninth-generation MediaTek NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0, which doubles compute power and supports BitNet 1.58-bit large model processing, potentially reducing power consumption by up to 33%. It also offers faster processing of large language models, long-text handling, and ultra-high-definition image generation with lower energy use.
The Dimensity 9500 incorporates an integrated compute-in-memory architecture for its new Super Efficient NPU, allowing AI models to run continuously with reduced power requirements.
Camera and display features include support for up to 200MP capture, 30fps continuous focus tracking, cinematic 4K 60FPS portrait video, and the MiraVision Adaptive Display technology that adjusts contrast and color saturation based on lighting conditions and content.
The connectivity suite includes improved Bluetooth call performance, faster Wi-Fi transfer, multi-network management, and AI-powered optimizations for lower power usage and higher accuracy in positioning and network selection.
MediaTek plans for smartphones using the Dimensity 9500 to be available in the fourth quarter of 2025.
