Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], April 22 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has adopted a proactive approach to ensure ease of transportation for citizens, businesses, and industries by steadily improving road infrastructure across the state.
In this context, the Chief Minister has approved Rs 975 crore for the Roads and Buildings Department to undertake resurfacing and ancillary works on 118 roads, spanning a total length of 735 kilometres, across all districts, the Chief Minister's office said in a press release.
Additionally, CM has approved Rs 267 crore for various road network projects in Mehsana district's Kadi taluka and Kutch's Deshalpur-Hajipir areas. In line with this, the CM has allocated Rs 171 crore for four key road improvement projects in Kadi taluka. This includes a total of Rs 27 crore for the strengthening, resurfacing, and construction of CC roads on routes such as Dangarwa-Karjisann road and Kadi-Jasalpur-Mokasan-Suraj road.
Considering the traffic congestion on two other major roads connecting Kadi taluka headquarters, the Bhalti-Dharampur-Khavad road and the Kadi-Nani Kadi-Bawadu-Chandrasan-Khodano Dhal road, Rs 144 crore has been allocated to widen these roads to 7 meters and 10 meters, respectively. In total, more than Rs 171 crore has been approved for the four road improvement projects in Kadi taluka.
The Chief Minister has also decided to allocate Rs 95 crore for converting the 32-kilometre-long 7-meter-wide state highway from Deshalpur-Hajipir, which connects the pilgrimage town of Hajipir in Kutch district with northern Gujarat, into a CC road, considering the heavy traffic on this route. He has approved a total of Rs 1242 crore for strengthening, resurfacing, CC road, and other such works across roads in the entire state.
As a result, road connectivity from rural villages to the taluka headquarters will be improved, promoting the development of both urban and rural areas. This will also facilitate smoother vehicular movement in industrial zones and strengthen connectivity with the Hajipir pilgrimage site. The financial allocation approved by CM for road resurfacing and other related works covers state highways, major district roads, and vital rural roads across districts. This people-centric decision will ensure the construction of well-paved, convenient roads, enhancing transportation for the public. (ANI)
